FRIDAY FAVES - MOVIE TIME

FRIDAY FAVES - MOVIE TIME

Blogging about movie treats pairs well with blogging about movies so I’m going to combine the two for today’s Friday faves.

Everybody has a favorite movie and everybody has a favorite movie treat but I want to share a treat I think will blow your mind.
Now, I realize pretty much everyone loves movie theater popcorn, right? And of course it’s one of mine as well. No matter what kind of diet I’m on there’s always room for movie theater popcorn on date night, that’s just the way it is. I don’t know if anyone else realizes this or not but Arizona based Harkins theaters has the best movie theater popcorn.
So your thinking so, thats nothing new. Wait for it...
Another one of my favorite treats for movie watching is Hot Tamales, the candy. I know, again, so what! Also, I know not everybody likes spicy food and frankly I’m not a huge fan of spicy food either. Stay with me...

The thing I want you to realize is that when you combine the popcorn with the tamales it brings the deliciousness to a whole new level.  The tamales aren’t as spicy becuase the buttery goodness of the popcorn tames it.  It’s like eating a salty, sweet, buttery, cinnamony, crunchy popcorn ball.
Yes! It satisfies pretty much every taste bud + comfort food center of the brain. There’s sweet + savory, crunchy + chewy.
If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a try next time you're at the theater!
Look, I'm not the first one to think of this.
This photo is from their website.
Finally, here are my favorite movies.
Disclaimer; These weren’t chosen for film quality, special effects or intellectual content. They were chosen purely because I enjoyed them enough to see them multiple times and compare all other movies to them. So far no other movies have bumped them from the top of my list.
For your convenience I've added the link to the trailers for the movies I've listed.
These are my fav movies listed by my fav movie genres (if a genre isn't listed here, it isn't my fav):
Thriller/mystery- Disturbia, this came out in 2007. There have been plenty of other horror/thriller/mystery's to come out since that I've enjoyed yet it's still my fav.

There were just too many to decide. My husband hates The Pricess Bride and he hates when I quote the lines in response to certain moments in our lives.  For example, "Have fun storming the castle."

Action- Jack ReacherMission Impossible (though these are both TC movies I really don’t have a crush on him.) The Borne seriesThe Man from Uncle
I used to love when a new James Bond movie came out until they started getting so dark. I'll still go see them when they come out, I just don't enjoy them as much as the others. I never really liked action films until I got married then I started watching them with my husband (I didn't think it was fair to make him see nothing but chick flix.) Much to his disappointment he still hasn't converted me to Clint Eastwood or Silvester Stalone but as you can see he has converted me to this genre.

Western- When I was on a rencent trip to St George, UT we had a western movie festival and watched nothing but westerns every night. Tombstone (I love Val Kilmer, even with blue lips), True GritMagnificent 7.
I thoroughly enjoyed each of these movies, which technically are action films too, right?
Classic - Roman Holiday, Emma, Pride and Predjudice, anything by Jane Austin.
There are actually too many to list in this genre. It really is one of my fav genres.
I really do enjoy a good comedy but when I needed to think of some for this blog I couldn't come up with any that could compete with this classic.
Documentary -
I really love documentaries of all kinds. I also have to give a nod to the one about the unibomber.
Drama - The Help, A Beautiful Mind, The Prestige. This genre barely made this list. It isn't generally my favorite genre mostly because for me drama = tears. There are some lovely movies here though so I ended up adding it to the list. Another disclaimer; I have seen very few R rated films so that limits my ability to concider them in my selections.
Musical - The Greatest Showman, I know there are so many musicals that could be added to this list but this one is so good if you want to walk away feeling great about yourself, empowered and ready to buy the soundtrack. It's one of the most enjoyable films I've seen. I know many people would agree.
